My Blog...; ...about learning guitar

Hi folks

Thought I'd try to write a kinda week-by-week blow-by-blow account of my experiences of the past 3 months learning guitar from being a complete beginner. Might be useful for other beginners to see that first of all learning firstly isn't that easy, but neither is it impossible as long as you put in the effort of practicing.

I've posted the first 8 weeks so far - half way there, as I've done 15 lessons now, 1 per week since I bought my guitar.

Thought writing this would primarily be useful for me, but sharing is always good, huh? Tutors might like to see how others teach, too!

Check it out here >>>Guitar Diary of Rampant<<<

Ah that's a nice idea matey! The only thing i see which would make it better are the specific difficultys you have with each thing! Like i remember when i started i had real issues with B7 and used to avoid it coz i found it more difficult than other open chords, if people had said to me then "yeah B7 is a tricky chord i found it hard too" it would have been more encouraging to know it wasn't just me being crap! :)

Sorry mods

Perhaps this thread should be in the lessons forum...

Would you care to move it there? Presuming that is possible??
Maybe I should just start a new thread over there???

Damn novice users, eh? Just haven't got a clue which is the most appropriate forum!!!

ok looked over the blog. i teach beginners and have to say that if this is accurate that your teacher is pushing you ahead way to fast. you need to have the confidence to play at least say open A,E,D and G and be able to switch between then with some dcent flow. barre chords are brutal on the wrist and fingers to start with. it will get easier and eventually you can be a show off like me and not even have to use the thumb at all to make them. keep at it and it will all come.

I don't know A dim barre yet :P

But seriously, you think that's too fast.

I was thinking that I was keeping up well through as much practice as I can squeeze in...

I'll continue the blog and see what ye think...

Well I'd agree with Monwo and say it does seem a little fast, maybe it isn't and maybe you're doing really well! But you'd be a pretty huge minority to be keeping up well at that pace :/

Hey mate. Cheers for the blogs. It is extremely refreshing to see a new user who has something interesting to contribute. If you want to post it in the Lessons forum, by all means, please do, and I'll sticky it for you.
