Really different amps alex, the Peavey is more than likely the better amp from a tonal point of view, and it will be louder, but it won't do modern gain, or even 90's 80's or 70's metal gain without a pedal or multi fx! So it should be a simple choice.. the basic decision is

1. Peavey - Proper valve amp with nothing extra.

2. Vox - Great versatility and plenty of things to play with, but not a true valve amp.

So it depends how much you want all the effects and amp models dude.

I have a couple good pedals, that's why i thought about the simple amp approach but i guess your right, the vox is a better package.

Thanks. :x

Yeah but you did say the vox had more versatility and that's what i'm kinda going for.

I'm just struggling with this.

If i get the Peavey then all i need is a good pedal and i'm good to go but without it my amp is just plain.

If i get the vox though then i get everything in one unit but witjh slightly less power and clarity.

I decided on the vox twice now but i keep going back to the quality of the Peavey....So

What would you do?

Me personally, i'd bare in mind that i like to have lots of different sounds, everything simple and together, i'd be happy enough with the tone from the Vox that losing out on a pure valve amp wouldn't bother me.

I bought a Vox as my first decent amp upgrade from owning 4 or 5 amps previously, but they had all been regular SS amps. Once i had this for 2 years, when i had saved enough i bought a nice Valve amp, and i'm glad i did it that way! Because i think if i hadn't then i'd feel like i wasn't getting everything i wanted from just the valve amp!! So yeah it kinda got all the ooo more distortion!! more chorus!! more phaser!! out of my system. But maybe thats a biased opinion considering i have both to choose from now, i'm sure that's how i would have thought about it then as well though.
